Research Centre
The Research Centre is an integral part of the Institution. Dr A. M. Ajathaswamy currently heads it as its director. The RCU sanctioned this research centre in 2012 after recognizing the infrastructural and human resources available at the college. Three staff members were identified as Research guides and were allotted 22 students for doing research work in the field of education. Five staff members have taken up UGC Minor Projects, and they are about to complete them successfully.
The Research Centre provides resources for researchers to take up projects and try out innovations in teaching & teacher education. Resources in the form of reference books, reports, journals, research surveys, digital materials and internet facilities are made available for researchers. American and British council Library (Chennai) membership has been procured. A Psychological Test Library, which is currently under development, will significantly help researchers in preparing tools.
The centre has initiated setting up a resource centre that is provided with NCERT Text Books, Laboratory Hand Books, Teachers Manuals, Assessment sourcebooks, and several CDs and digital materials related to teaching & learning. The centre acts as a forum for teachers to get themselves acquainted with recent trends in education, systematic changes in teaching strategies, ICT tools & try out innovations. This centre has a vision of empowering our teachers for future challenges. In this regard, the training needs of teachers and heads have been identified, and orientation workshops will commence shortly.

Competency Building Centre
BLDE Association established the Competency Building Centre during 2015-16 at JSS college of Education, Vijayapur. This centre owes its origin to the vision of Honourable Vice-chancellor Dr. B. G. Mulimani, General Secretary, Sri. G. K. Patil and Prof. S. H.Lagali. It offers pre-examination career guidance to prepare the students for competitive examinations conducted by UPS, KPSC, Civil Services and Banking services.
Presently, the centre is running CSIR-UGC NET, UGC_NET & K-SET programmes. Thirty-seven students have registered for the same. Eminent scholars from all over Karnataka like Dr. Ganga Boraih from KIMS Bangalore, Dr. S. S. Patil from Kuvempu University Shimoga, Dr. Shreedhar & others are the resource persons.
